Who was Frida? Why is she popular today? Frida Kahlo was, and remains, a fascinating and multifaceted person and artist. Complex, intelligent and creative, Friday made notable contributions to the art world achieving universal public appeal. Find out why the father of Surrealism called Frida "the lost secret.: Frida's mestizaje, Mexican identity, cultural heritage, social and political beliefs, as wekk as physical disabilities, will be discussed and the context of her work in post-revolutionary Mexico. Frida played a large role in redefining the identity of women by painting 'the unspeakable' and her 'own reality.' There will be a dialogue on the commodification of Fria's image as 'woman of the people.'
